End of coal burning

End of coal burning

In August 2022, we ended the combustion of coal in all our sources in Tábor and Planá nad Lužnicí. After more than 60 years, we replaced domestic brown coal with regional wood biomass, thereby reducing emissions by another 91%. This step is a key milestone on our path to sustainable energy and environmentally responsible operation.

Energy use of waste

Energy use of waste

In Planá nad Lužnicí, we are building the first municipal waste incineration plant in the South Bohemian Region. The new facility with a fluidized bed boiler will enable the ecological and economical processing of up to 50 thousand tons of waste per year, with the possibility of supplementing it with biomass. The incineration plant will help municipalities in the region prepare for the landfill ban and at the same time stabilize heat prices for the Tábor agglomeration. Its commissioning is planned for the end of 2027.

Modernization of heat distribution in Tábor

Modernization of heat distribution in Tábor

In 2021–2023, we implemented an extensive project to replace steam heat distribution in Tábor. We replaced outdated steam pipes with modern hot water distribution, reducing heat losses from the original 27% to just 10%. This modernization also extended the service life of the backbone distribution to up to 40 years and increased the efficiency of the entire system.

Battery storage

Battery storage

In Planá nad Lužnicí and Tábor, we have completed battery storage projects that increase the stability and flexibility of our energy sources. Thanks to them, we can more effectively manage consumption, store energy from renewable sources and provide regulatory services for the electricity grid. Battery storage is an important step towards modern, reliable and sustainable energy.

Renewable energy sources

Renewable energy sources

As part of the Planá 2025 Strategy, we have significantly increased the share of renewable energy sources in our production mix. We have replaced coal fuel with regional wood biomass, which is an ecological and locally available alternative. Thanks to these steps, we have reduced emissions by more than 90% and moved closer to the sustainable energy of the future.
