Modern battery storage systems are one of the key components of C-energy's energy sources. They enable us to store the energy we generate and time its consumption for when it is most efficient.
We launched our first battery storage facility in 2019. At that time, it was the largest battery storage facility in the Czech Republic, with an output of 4 megawatts and a capacity of 2.5 megawatt hours. The second was put into operation in 2024 and again became the largest source of its kind in the Czech Republic at the time. It provides 15 MW of power and 22 MWh of capacity. To give you an idea, the second battery storage facility could reliably power more than 100,000 households for one hour. Or it could replace the output of 13 wind turbines operating at full capacity for the same period of time.
Batteries connected alongside traditional energy sources help C-energy to effectively optimize coverage of peak electricity consumption in the local distribution system. At the same time, they provide additional revenue by providing power balancing services to stabilize the electricity grid.
